The road to fair's first mini-festival took odd twists and turns If you think it strange such out-there acts as The Flaming Lips, Ween and Sonic Youth are playing tonight's Grandstand show at the Allentown Fair, consider how this six-hour mini-festival, which also includes Brit popsters The Magic Numbers, came to be.

There can be little doubt that the most enticing performance at this year's New York State Fair will be the Flaming Lips-headlined evening. With supporting acts Sonic Youth, The Magic Numbers, and Ween, this Friday night certainly stands out from the other performers at the fair.

Ween, Disco Biscuits, Secret Machines, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, World Party, and much more will star in the 21st Annual Captain Morgan's Jam on the River. Still the Official Kick Off to Summer in Philadelphia, Captain Morgan's Jam on the River at Penn's Landing celebrated 20 years in 2005, and kicks off the next 20 years this May 2006.
