Rubio sued for breach of contract

Mon Oct 23, 11:55 PM ET

LOS ANGELES - Mexican pop singer Paulina Rubio has been sued by her former management company, which claims she owes more than $300,000 for work done on her behalf.

The lawsuit filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court claims breaches of oral and written contract by the 35-year-old Rubio, who is the daughter of Mexican film star and soap actress Susana Dosamantes.

The suit claims Rubio signed a contract with Storm Theater Group of Nevada in January 2002 in which she was to pay the company 15 percent of her gross earnings for entertainment performed in Mexico and 20 percent elsewhere.

She was also supposed to pay the company 15 percent of her gross earnings for merchandising and endorsements, the lawsuit said.

An e-mail message left for Rubio's publicist was not immediately returned. Attorneys for Storm Theater Group could not be reached for comment; a phone rang unanswered.

Rubio is a crossover star whose English-language work includes the single "Don't Say Goodbye," released in 2002. Her latest CD, "Ananda," went on sale last month.
