New York -

Sandra Bullock, Queen Latifah and Katie Couric were three of the biggest names to be honored at the 17th Annual Glamour Women of the Year awards on October 30th in New York, but all the honorees this year came with major accomplishments under their wings.

On the fashion front, three generations of Missoni's were honored -Angela, Rosita & Margherita Missoni - while former supermodel Iman is devoting herself to the

AIDS crisis in Africa and was honored for her efforts to fund antiretroviral drugs for children and working with Keep a Child Alive.

The 202,949 women of the U.S. Military were collectively honored, as was Major Tammy Duckworth, who lost her legs during combat in 2004 in

Iraq after her helicopter was shot down.

Other "Women of the Year" included Laurie David, global warming activist who produced "An Inconvenient Truth" featuring former Vice President

Al Gore; Rachael Scdoris, who is legally blind and is the first disabled person to ever complete Alaska's Iditarod dog sled race; Somaly Mam, who was sold into sex slavery in Cambodia as a child and now rescues girls from sex trafficking with her organization Acting for Women in Distressing Situations; Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori, the first female presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church and Billie Jean King, tennis champion and champion of the rights of women athletes.
