Even four years after his death, the sensitive songwriter Elliott Smith still
lives on with a number of posthumous releases. First there was From a
Basement on The Hill, the haunting collection of songs Smith was working
on at the time of his untimely demise. And now on May 8th, Smith's original
label Kill Rock Stars (he later signed with Dreamworks) will release New
Moon, a two-disc compilation of 24 songs recorded during his minimal
acoustic period (1995-1997) while he working on his two emotionally potent
classics, the self-titled Elliott Smith and Either/Or. All
proceeds from New Moon will go towards Outside In, a social service
organization designed to provide benefits and services to homeless teens and
underprivileged adults.
