Windows CE gets ARM power management support
Feb. 13, 2006 — Intrinsyc Software has released what it calls the first Windows CE 5.0 implementation of ARM Ltd.'s processor-level power management technology. The company says that ARM's Intelligent Energy Manager (IEM) voltage and frequency scaling technology can reduce system-level power and energy consumption by as much as 15 to 20 percent.
New chip to reduce smartphones to feature-phone costs
Feb. 13, 2006 — Amoi Electronics, HTC, and Sagem Communication are developing Windows Mobile smartphones based on a cost-reduced, highly-integrated mobile phone chip from Texas Instruments (TI), Microsoft and TI announced Monday. Handsets, based on TI's OMAPV1030 GSM/GPRS/EDGE chip are expected to begin shipping within 12 months.
Windows CE zeroes in on feature phones

Microsoft to lead in advanced mobile phones by 2010
Feb. 09, 2006 — By 2010, Windows Mobile will overtake both Symbian and Linux in the market for advanced mobile phone OSes, according to a report from The Diffusion Group (TDG).
