Thalia to host weekly radio program

NEW YORK - Mexican pop star Thalia is about to become a talk-show personality.

The singer will host a new radio program to be broadcast in the United States starting next week.

"Who doesn't have a radio at home, in the car or at work?" she told The Associated Press. "It seemed to me a lovely opportunity to meet other people, to reach places that you're limited in television or print media. Radio helps you cover different populations, different ideologies, and I love it."

"The Conexion Thalia Radio Show" on ABC Radio en Espanol will feature celebrity interviews, lifestyle segments and information targeted toward Latinos, it was announced Tuesday.

"It is going to be as if you were there in Thalia's living room, getting to know her, getting to know her friends," said Kevin Miller, senior vice president of business development at ABC Radio Networks.

The program will be broadcast starting March 17 in major media markets, including New York, Los Angeles, Miami and Puerto Rico. It will air Saturdays, in two-hour blocks, at varying times on different stations. Eventually it will switch to a daily schedule, according to ABC.

Thalia also has a clothing line for Kmart and a brand of chocolates.
