The bluesy rock band from Tennessee took top spot after holding off another new entry, "Our Earthly Pleasures," from British indie band Maximo Park, the Official UK Charts Company said.
Last week's number one "Beautiful World" by reformed boy band Take That dropped to third with "Everytime We Touch" by German dance trio Cascada in fourth.
Soaring into fifth was the "The Best Of" album by Scottish twins the Proclaimers, hot on the heels of their recent success in the singles chart.
The re-working of their 1980s classic "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)," featuring comedians Peter Kay and Matt Lucas, stayed at number one for the third week running.
There was little movement elsewhere at the tops of the chart, with Canadian rocker Avril Lavigne staying in second place with "Girlfriend" and U.S. singer Gwen Stefani unmoved in third with "The Sweet Escape."
U.S. band The Fray moved up a place to fourth with "How To Save A Life" swapping places with dance track "Destination Calabria" by Alex Gaudino featuring Crystal Waters.
The highest new entry in sixth was "Stop Me" by Mark Ronson featuring D Merriweather which covers "Stop Me If You've Heard This One Before" by legendary band The Smiths.
Other new entries in the top ten were "Give It To Me" by hip-hop producer Timbaland featuring Nellie Furtado which debuted in eighth and "Beautiful Liar," a collaboration by stars Beyonce and Shakira.
