PORTLAND, Ore. - A Portland rock band says it turned down
an offer for the right to use their song in a commercial for the
Hummer.
The Thermals say they were offered $50,000 for the
right to use their song "It's Trivia" in a commercial for the
sport utility vehicle.
But lead singer Hutch Harris says the answer was easy - NO.
GM later offered another band $180,000, but Trans Am of
Washington, D.C., also said no.
Lyle Hysen of Bank Robber Music, a licensing group that pitches
songs to film and TV production companies, says the Hummer is a
tough sell.
Some bands tell him they'll do almost anything for money -
except a Hummer commercial.
