Former Creed lead singer and South Beach resident Scott Stapp tied the knot to Miss New York 2004 Jaclyn Nesheiwat in a swanky ceremony at Vizcaya on Friday night. Event expert Barton G. Weiss orchestrated the 200-plus person affair and sit-down dinner. The bride wore a Vera Wang.
The nuptials weren't all bliss, however. Stapp was arrested Saturday at Los Angeles International Airport. Billboard.com reports that he was taken into custody for being under the influence.
While Paris Hilton was flitting around town celebrating Ocean Drive Magazine's 13th anniversary everywhere from Beacher's Madhouse show at Mansion on Friday to Snatch to Privé to the big Bal Harbour bash Saturday and, eventually, to Macy's Dadeland Sunday afternoon where she hawked her eponymous fragrance collection, her parents Rick and Kathy had dinner at the swank South of Fifth eatery o-R-o Saturday before hitting the Sheraton Bal Harbour, soon to be transformed into the St. Regis Resort & Residences, Bal Harbour. The couple dined on caviar, oysters and champagne, of course, and told the staff they'd tell all their friends -- and their daughters -- to check the place out. Mamí Hilton also took a moment to gush about her ubiquitous daughter, Paris, saying, ''She's sponsoring the Ocean Drive party!'' We think she confused the word sponsor with host, but a proud mom's a proud mom!
Speaking of Ocean Drive Magazine, its weekend of festivities attracted a motley crew of celebs as usual. Spotted in the crowd at the Beacher's Madhouse show on Friday: Trick Daddy, Chris Kattan, Dwyane Wade and Paris Hilton's producer ex, Scott Storch. Deco Drive co-anchor Louis Aguirre was beckoned onstage by legendary Vegas showman Leonid the Magnificent and bumped and grinded and strutted his stuff. At the Bal Harbour bashwere the aforementioned as well as Jon Bon Jovi, Miami Dolphin tight end Randy McMichael, Ja Rule, hit-maker Irv Gotti, Gloria and Emilio Estefan, socialite sisters Bonnie and Carolyne D'Amore, Chicago Bear defensive end Adewale Ogunleye, model Shakara Ledard, Nicole Murphy (Eddie's ex), NY Giants linebacker Barrett Green and Sammy Sosa. Seal performed while OD publisher Jerry Powers and Related Group mogul Jorge Perez served as disc jockey along with Miami Heat spin doctor DJ Irie.
Benicio del Toro took a break from channeling Communist revolutionary Ernesto ''Che'' Guevara in the upcoming Steven Soderbergh movie and stopped by celeb fave Macaluso's where he channeled his appetite and hung out in the kitchen with the restaurant's owner/chef Michael D'Andrea. According to our sources, del Toro was ``with a young, hot girlfriend and an older gentleman.''
Rocker Jon Bon Jovi, who stayed at the Ritz Carlton South Beach, went straight to Rok Bar after his BankAtlantic Center concert Friday night. According to witnesses, he left around 5 a.m. and, to many a fan's dismay, refused to sign autographs.
Also in town: Bobby Brown, who checked into the Shore Club over the weekend.
Dining at Barton G. The Restaurant on Saturday night: Ivanka Trump, The Donald's daughter, who is clearly much more frugal than her big-spending dad. The total bill for her party of six was $200.
Although he was fired from The Apprentice, the bow-tie sporting Raj Bhakta, 29, is running for Congress against incumbent Rep. Allyson Schwartz, D-Pa. Miami's own Pawn Shop Lounge is hosting a campaign fundraiser for Bhakta from 9 p.m. to midnight Feb. 25, with proceeds also benefiting Teach for America, a national corps of recent college grads who commit two years to teach in urban and rural public schools. Tickets for the event are $40, which includes an open bar. Bow-tie is not required, but highly suggested.
