"I am a woman very clear in the things I am doing. We won't have kids soon. I will have babies but not today," the Mexican pop diva said in Spanish at a press conference Wednesday, a day before the start of her U.S. tour.
Rubio and Spanish businessman Nicolas Vallejo Nagera were married April 30 at Xcaret, an ecotourism park on Mexico's Caribbean coast. The religious ceremony was postponed for at least an hour until paparazzi in four helicopters overhead left the area.
She recalled the week leading up to her wedding as "the most beautiful week of my life," and called her husband a "marvelous man." She also thanked her friends who attended the event, including Mexican superstar Juan Gabriel, Spanish singer Alejandro Sanz and Puerto Rican soap opera actress Adamaris Lopez.
"It was a magnificent moment. It passed so quickly. I wish I could relive it," she said.
Rubio said she's been so busy she hasn't had time to return home and open her wedding gifts.
The first half of her U.S. tour, the largest of her career, will consist of 27 concerts over seven weeks, beginning in Houston on Thursday night. Stops on the tour also include Dallas, Chicago, Denver and Boston. It wraps up in Texas with stops in San Antonio, Hidalgo and El Paso.
After playing in Europe, Rubio is scheduled to return for the second phase of her U.S. tour in September.
"Texas brings me good luck," Rubio said when asked why her U.S. tour was starting in Houston. "A large percentage of my fans in the United States are here."
After beginning in the children's group Timbiriche, Rubio made her solo debut in 1992 with "The Golden Girl." Her albums also include "Pau-Latina" and her latest, "Ananda."
The singer has also starred in several Mexican TV series.
