Kaiser Chiefs pull Will Ferrell-inspired joke album

Kaiser Chiefs have decided not to release a "joke" album recorded spontaneously in tribute to

Will Ferrell.

Earlier this year, the group confirmed they'd recorded another LP's worth of music while completing Yours Truly, Angry Mob.

However, singer Ricky Wilson has now confessed that the record, which was inspired by Ferrell's character in Anchorman, is "awful."

Wilson explained: "One night we were left in the studio with just our sound engineer. We had this idea to record an album for 45 minutes off the top of our heads.

"We just made it up as we went along. We called it Bad because it's so awful. We took our inspiration from Will Ferrell's character in Anchorman who just says what he sees.

"I haven't listened to it since we recorded it. I'd like to, but I know I'd cringe because it's really bad and unfunny."

Ricky has also insisted that there are now no plans to unleash Bad on the music world, despite bass player Simon Rix suggesting it might be.

"It was a laugh to start with and then Simon went and said we wanted to release it. We did in a way, but just as a joke," said Wilson.
