Nelly's Ring Finger Gets Blinged

Los Angeles (E! Online) - The world's most famous "Promiscuous" singer is about to be made an honest woman by a Loose sound engineer.

Nelly Furtado has gotten engaged to Demacio "Demo" Castellon, who engineered her 2006 hit album.

Preeminent hip-hop producer and close pal Timbaland, who also worked with Furtado on last year's Loose, most notably the hit single "Promiscuous," confirmed the betrothal to People, giving the magazine a simple "yes" when asked if the engagement rumors were true.

That was more than we got out of the 28-year-old singer's manager, who told E! News, "We don't comment on our client's personal lives."

No word on when the big day will be. When it does, though, it will be the first trip down the aisle for the hitmaking Canadian songbird, who has a three-year-old daughter, Nevis, from a previous relationship with DJ Jasper "Lil' Jaz" Gahunia.

While the couple hasn't offered any details of their engagement, Furtado has been sporting some serious diamond bling on her ring finger since last month, prompting speculation that Castellon proposed at the end of her tour.

Furtado and Castellon first met through Timbaland while working on Loose at the Miami Sound Factory.

A year ago, the Grammy winner told Blender that she had a "secret boyfriend" of eight months, adding that it was "nobody famous or anything" and that she wanted to keep the relationship private.

"I just don't really talk about it," she told the music mag.

In the same interview, Furtado spoke about why she and Gahunia, who split in 2005 after four years together, never tied the knot.

"I'm kind of modern," she said. "I don't really live by society's standards. Maybe in the next five years I'll get married, have more kids."

At least if the music career doesn't pan out, Furtado always has her psychic powers to fall back on.

At any rate, the engagement news caps off a banner run for Furtado. Aside from her latest tour, she performed at last weekend's Concert for Diana in London after being hand-selected for the gig by Princes William and Harry. Her rendition of "Maneater" was one of the first tunes to bring the royal brothers to their feet.
