DELHI: Interpol has issued red corner notices against some 250 hardcore
criminals and terrorists who fled the country after carrying out anti-India
operations, parliament was informed on
Tuesday.
In a written reply in
the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Home Affairs S. Regupathy said the notices
to arrest the fugitives were issued by the Interpol Secretariat General over the
past three years.
The list of
wanted criminals and terrorists includes Dawood Ibrahim, the main accused in the
1993 Mumbai bombings that killed 257 people, Maulana Masood Azhar, chief of the
Jaish-e-Mohammad terror group, Noora Kaskar, brother of Dawood Ibrahim, and
Ottavio Quattrocchi, one of the accused in the Bofors kickbacks scandal.
Regupathy said nine of the
most wanted fugitives had been extradited from different countries in the past
five years and the government was making special efforts for the extradition of
22 other most wanted criminals and terrorists.
