Kaiser Chiefs have denied that they plan to record the next official English World Cup song.
Although a spokesperson from the Football Association informed the News of the World that they are "not ruling the Kaiser Chiefs out" for the job, the Leeds-based band have ruled themselves out.
NME.com quotes a statement from the group: "We're flattered about these rumours regarding the England football team's World Cup song, but there's no truth in them, they are just rumours. The only writing we'll be doing in the next few months will be for our next album...Sorry to dispel the myth."
With the Kaisers out of the picture, it is still to be seen who will follow in the footsteps of the Spice Girls and provide the soundtrack to England's expedition to Germany this summer.
