Richard Archer from Hard-Fi says, "We're really looking forward to this one. Hi:Fi is going to be our first festival headline show. We're going to make a proper weekend of it and we'll definitely be sticking around for Ian Brown on the Sunday - he's a true legend."
James Algate, the festival organiser says, "Hi:Fi is the festival for the iPod generation. The event will offer something for everyone musically by bridging the gap between out and out dance and live shows. We want to give our guests the opportunity to see their indie and dance heroes performing side by side for the first time. This is something that we believe will suit the more eclectic music tastes of the 21st century perfectly."
Hi:Fi will be a festival of firsts:
This is the first time live bands and DJs have been so closely combined on a line up
This is the first time the North East has had its own festival having been sandwiched for so long between T in The Park and Carling Leeds
This is the first time a camping festival has taken place in the Matterley Bowl Estate
Hi:Fi will also feature a quality bill of non-musical entertainment including chill out areas, fun fairs, cinemas and exclusive VIP arenas. A special promotion is being organised to allow local bands from the North East to win a set at Hi:Fi North whilst up and coming DJs can win a set at Hi:Fi South. This will be an amazing one off opportunity to play in front of a giant crowd.
Hi:Fi is the result of a partnership between the Angel Music Group and the events company Hamsard*. Angel Music are responsible for the successful Global Gathering festival, which consistently sells out with record breaking numbers and has grown into a two day festival sponsored by Radio 1. They have joined forces with Glastonbury talent booker Martin Elbourne who is responsible for the live music and bands.
