Sovereign: Beastie Girl

Lady Sovereign is working with Beastie Boy Ad Rock on her new material, it has emerged.

The UK urban star has been signed by Jay Z's Island Def Jam imprint in America and is understood to have hooked-up with Rock through the hip hop hero.

According to reports, Sovereign, who is the only non-US act on Def Jam in America, has been recording with Ad Rock at his SoHo studio in New York.

She is expected to showcase her new music at SXSW in Austen, Texas, this week, before venturing to Miami to work with a number of other currently unknown high-profile producers.

Lady Sovereign releases a limited edition EP called "Blah Blah" on April 17 through Island.
