Ice Cube Wants You To Laugh Now, Cry Later

Ice Cube Wants You To Laugh Now, Cry Later
Mar 15, 2006
Story by: Jessica Suarez

Multiplatinum rapper and actor Ice Cube is finally ready to go indie. Lench Mob Records, the independent founded by Ice Cube, announced yesterday that they will release the rappers seventh solo LP, titled Laugh Now, Cry Later. The album, which drops June 6, will feature production by Lil' Jon, Swizz Beatz, and Scott Storch, who was featured in a recent profile by the New York Times. "Chrome & Paint" has already received the video and single treatment, but the album's first official single will be "Why We Thugs." Ice Cube took time off from movie making in 2005 to work on his record which is probably fine for audiences who caught xXx: State Of The Union or Are We There Yet? and neither laughed then, nor cried after. For fans of Ice Cube the actor, it looks like he'll be back to a full production schedule, as he's slated to star in Are We Done Yet? (sequel to Are We There Yet?, Teacher Of The Year, and The Extractors. It was also announced this week that Ice Cube will play the title roll in a remake of the 70's TV series, Welcome Back Kotter.
