Skynyrd, 3 Doors Down team for summer tour

By Kelly Barbieri

NEW YORK -- Lynyrd Skynyrd and 3 Doors Down have confirmed a co-headlining, 15-city tour dubbed the Double Trouble Summer Tour.

The trek is set to kick off June 25 at Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati and wrap July 22 in Biloxi, Miss., at the grand reopening of the Mississippi Coast Coliseum, which was damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

"We've been trying to go on the road with these guys for a while,” Lynyrd Skynyrd lead singer Johnny Van Zant said in a statement. “We've done a few events together, but our schedules haven't worked out before now.

“We're excited about these shows. It's going to be a high-energy, old school meets new school Southern Rock concert you don't want to miss."

Ken Fermaglich, agent for 3 Doors Down, booked the tour in conjunction with Greg Oswald, Skynyrd’s agent at the William Morris Agency. Most dates will be at Live Nation sheds. A couple of special performances may be added to the route.

Skynyrd will play the second slot on all shows.

In other touring news, James Taylor has booked more scaled-down dates next month, including shows at the Morris Performing Arts Center in South Bend, Ind., on April 8 and the Orpheum Theater in Omaha, Neb., on April 15.

As he did for several dates this month, Taylor will perform on guitar with only one backing musician, keyboardist Larry Goldings. The April trek is scheduled to visit nine performing arts halls.

Carol Kinzel in Creative Artists Agency’s Los Angeles office is booking all dates.
