 Nine Inch Nails
| According to Trent Reznor, Nine Inch Nails' upcoming summer trek with Bauhaus will be his last U.S. tour for a while. He's also pretty psyched about his lineup of opening bands, which includes TV On The Radio for the first half of the tour and Peaches for the second half. "Bauhaus has been a major influence of mine over the years," writes Reznor on NIN.com. "Their sound, look and style made me want to start a band. One of the first tours we were on was with Peter Murphy - a hero of mine. To share the stage with these guys now is truly an honor. TV On The Radio is one of my favorite new bands to emerge in the last few years. In a climate where everyone is trying to either sound the same or blatantly rip a cool older band off, these guys are doing their own thing. I've heard their new record and it's groundbreaking." The tour begins on May 27 in Ridgefield, WA. Peaches joins the bill on June 16.
Motley Crue singer Vince Neil recently told Rolling Stone that he would like to finish another solo CD in addition to a new Motley Crue album, which they will record this summer. He hopes to release the solo effort early next year, and the Crue is set to hit the studio in June and July. The band has already been working with producer Bob Rock. "We need a month to get all the songs together and demo them, because there are lots and lots of ideas floating around," said Neil. "We don't plan on going away any time soon. We're having a great time."
Country singer Buck Owens, who was well-known for co-hosting the show Hee-Haw, passed away on Saturday at the age of 76. Owens died in his sleep just hours after finishing a gig at his concert hall and restaurant, Buck Owens' Crystal Palace, says the New York Times. The singer had suffered a stroke in the past, and also underwent surgery for cancer in 1993. Owens is known for hits like 1963's "Act Naturally" and "Love's Gonna Live Here," as well as "Together Again," "I've Got a Tiger by the Tail" and "My Heart Skips a Beat." His composition "Cryin' Time" became a Pop hit for Ray Charles in 1965. Owens co-hosted Hee-Haw with guitarist Roy Clark from 1969 to 1986.The Red Hot Chili Peppers have unveiled the entire 28 song tracklisting for Stadium Arcadium. Due May 9, the two discs will be labelled "Jupiter" and "Mars." First single "Dani California" will arrive on April 3, with the video premiering on MTV the next day. A deluxe, limited edition black box version of Stadium Arcadium will also be released, with a bonus DVD, an expanded booklet, artwork by the band and "special space-age discoveries."
Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals have tons of tour plans for the summer. They will visit Australia in May but will get back to North America for three shows on May 26 in Bend, OR, May 27 in Quincy, WA and May 28 in Burnaby, Canada. June and July brings the band to Japan and Europe, but they will return to U.S. soil in August for a tour with Damian Marley. That trek begins August 10 in Phoenix and runs through September 14 in Knoxville, TN. No Doubt's Tony Kanal has launched his own label, Kingsbury Studios, starting with Reggae artist Elan. According to Billboard, Elan's new album Together As One features a duet with Kanal's bandmate Gwen Stefani on the track "All Nighter." Billy Joel will tour the U.K. and Ireland for the first time in 12 years, according to the Web site SoundGenerator.com. Joel will begin his long-overdue visit on July 5 in Birmingham, England. Head Automatica will release their sophomore effort, Popaganda, on June 6. Led by the single "Graduation Day," frontman Daryl Palumbo says of the new material, "I really wanted to make music you might've heard in the U.K. in the late-'70s to early-'80s. Popaganda is our interpretation and homage to that great musical period."
