Daily Hip-Hop News:
Paul Wall's G.R.i.T. Boys Get Real With New Show
Monday - March 27, 2006 by Jolene "foxxylady" Petipas
Paul Wall affiliates The G.R.i.T Boys are about to take hip-hop and mobile entertainment to the next level as the stars of "NEXXT: The Hip Hop Mobile Series," the first-ever reality mobile series.
"NEXXT" will feature 52 mini-episodes which follow The G.R.i.T Boys (Poppy, Scooby, Unique and Yung Red) over the span of six months showing their day-to-day lives and their struggles to make it big in the music business. The show will also boast guest appearances from various hip-hop celebrities. Mobile users will get access to exclusive "NEXXT" ringtones and wallpaper as well.
The G.R.i.T. Boys are produced, developed and promoted by Paul Wall and have collaborated with Houston staples such as Lil' O, Chamillionaire and Big Pokey. The group was also featured on Paul Wall's major debut, The People's Champ.
"The G.R.i.T. Boys are a reality rap group," said Paul Wall via a statement. "They talk about real life situations, no exaggerations. They are something that the Houston rap scene really needs right now."
"NEXXT" will be produced by The Nickels Group and will be distributed globally by Mobile Streams Inc.
"By creating the 'NEXXT' series, Mobile Streams will provide a valuable platform for indie artists to gain exposure to potentially hundreds of millions of mobile phone users around the world," said The Nickels Group co-founder Daryl "Dogman" Young via a statement. "As a result of these direct relationships with mobile users, the indies will be able to command larger royalties from digital music sales in future deals with major labels."
In related news, Paul Wall is currently featured alongside Fat Joe, Lil Wayne, Pitbull and Rick Ross on DJ Khaled's new single, "Holla At Me."
The NEXXT Series is set to premiere in the summer.
