Kardinal Offishall has joined forces with reggae-dub band Bedouin Soundclash on a remix of "Last Soldier Standing," the lead track on the acclaimed Toronto rapper/producer's latest album, "Fire & Glory," released on Black Jays/EMI Music Canada.

"It will be the next single out at the end of April," says Kardi, whose real name is Jason Harrow. He has just been awarded a VideoFACT grant to make a video for the new version of the song. The original has a laidback, reggae vibe and Bedouin bassist Eon Sinclair says the remix is "less aggressive sounding. It's more danceable, for sure."

Bedouin Soundclash, which won new group of the year at the Juno Awards this past Sunday (April 2), has scanned 59,000 copies of its 2004 album, "Sounding a Mosaic," according to Nielsen SoundScan Canada. Kardinal, one of the country's most respected rappers and producers, has scanned 8,000 units off of one single, "Everyday (Rudebwoy)," since "Fire & Glory" dropped in mid November. Bedouin's name may help get the record in the hands of college kids, a big part of Bedouin's audience.

"It's a really good collaboration because there are definite elements of both our sounds," says Sinclair.

"We both met at a mutual studio and recorded our parts and then he added some stuff to it and did his flow at his studio and we went back and forth," says Bedouin singer Jay Malinowski.

Meanwhile, Kardi, per usual, is working with a ton of artists across the border and abroad.

"As far as the American and UK stuff," says Kardi, "(I'm) producing for Estelle who is out of England, as well as Sway who is the No. 1 rap artist out of England right now. We've done some stuff and we're going to do some more. (Plus, I'm going to) do some stuff with Akon and De La Soul."
