Mission: Truth telling

Tom Cruise's rep says he never purchased an adult pacifier to keep Katie Holmes quiet during the impending birth of their child, despite what Star magazine says.

"In keeping with a Scientology silent birth, Tom is prepared to do whatever it takes to muffle Katie's moans and groans during delivery," claims the mag.

But Cruise's PR flack Arnold Robinson says the reports are rubbish.

What is true, says Cruise, are his recollections of his now-late father being abusive, which the "Mission: Impossible III" star admits in an upcoming issue of Parade magazine.

"He was a bully and a coward," the 43-year-old actor says of Thomas Cruise Mapother III.

Larger than life

As if Las Vegas didn't offer enough to satiate the senses.

Air travelers flying over southern Nevada now have a bird's-eye view of a 75-by-110-foot re-creation of Maxim magazine, featuring a scantily clad Eva Longoria.

The reason? Maxim -- one of a handful of "lad mags" -- is celebrating its 100th issue.

A kiss is just a kiss

For the record, Teri Hatcher is still single.

Us Weekly published photos of the actress kissing "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest last week, but Hatcher, 41, told "Access Hollywood" she's not dating anyone exclusively.

"I guess what's caught on film is caught on film," said Hatcher, who doesn't deny she and Seacrest, 31, locked lips on a beach in Malibu, Calif. "I'm not (attached)."

Speaking of smooching

Heather Locklear and David Spade recently got cozy with friends in West Hollywood -- and up close and personal with each other.

Locklear, 44 -- who filed for divorce from Bon Jovi rocker Richie Sambora, 46, on Feb. 2 after 11 years of marriage -- and Spade, 41, were spotted kissing while hanging out with pals.

Us Weekly reports the two are dating and met through their mutual manager.

'Crash' to hit small screen

"Crash" walked away with the Oscar for best picture. Now the film's execs are hoping it's a hit on TV.

The movie is being adapted into a television drama, reports imdb.com. It's scheduled to air sometime in the next year.

Quote of the Day

American audiences "are thirsty for new cultural experiences."
