A man accused of raping a 15-year-old has been charged with bribery after he tried to pay the girl's family to skip his upcoming trial, police said.
New Castle County police charged Eddie "Darnell" Foster, 37, of the 400 block of Carver Drive in Dunleith, near New Castle, with three counts of bribery, spokesman Cpl. Trinidad Navarro said Friday.
Foster is accused of offering $10,000 to two family members of his alleged victim if they agreed not to attend his April 11 trial date in Superior Court, Navarro said.

The relatives reported the offer to police Wednesday, he said. Police issued warrants for Foster's arrest and the suspect, freed on bail while awaiting trial, later surrendered to police, Navarro said.
Foster was arraigned and committed to the Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington after failing to post $450,000 cash bail on the bribery charges.
New Castle city police arrested Foster on multiple counts of third-degree rape after a man reported to police that Foster had repeatedly raped his girlfriend's 15-year-old daughter last summer.
