Bubba Sparxxx Interview, New Album The Charm in Stores

Bubba Sparxx is back with a new album. The Charm is in stores now. The album features the hit single "Ms New Booty."

How have you grown since you have emerged onto the music scene?
Bubba Sparxxx-When asked about how he has changed in the past five years, Bubba credits the natural progression of maturing. "I've grown. This is my fifth year. I was like 24 when I first came out and I just turned 29. Think about how much anyone grows or matures in those years and I've just grown and matured. Everyone knew me from the last situation with Timbaland with his label Beat Club. That situation came to an end. There are no problems between me and Tim it was just a business move. Now I'm on Big Boi from Outkast's label Purple Ribbon which is distributed by Virgin Records so I'm real excited it's like a fresh start.

I'm at the point now in my career where nothing really shocks me anymore but obviously Ms. New Booty is considered controversial.
Bubba Sparxxx-I can't believe it.

I received this letter. It's pretty negative. I'm not going to read it to you but someone said that basically Ying Yang Twins and Mr. ColliPark have gotten together with a white boy to validate bootys and black women. What do you say to critics who have negative things to say about the song?
Bubba Sparxxx-First of all do no point do I imply the Ms. New Booty is a black woman.

Right, because there are all different races in the video.
Bubba Sparxxx-Yeah. All different races are represented in the video. It's just a ridiculous notion. Would somebody rather me have excluded black women? I just don't understand. I appreciate the beauty of all women and all different ethnicities. It's pretty ridiculous.

Speaking of the video I notice that you injected a bit of humor into the video. What was your thought process when it came to developing the concept for the video?
Bubba Sparxxx-I knew I wanted it to be sexy because that's the nature of the song. I didn't want it to be offensive. I didn't want to offend anybody and I also wanted to entertain and have a light hearted comedic side to it.

It's going to do down in the Booty Song Hall of Fame along with LL Cool J's "Big Ole Butt" and Sir Mix A Lot's "Baby Got Back," and "Doing The Butt," I know all the booty songs.
Bubba Sparxxx-Yeah.

Was there every a point in your career where you felt like "I don't know if I can do this anymore," or did you always think you were going to keep going?
Bubba Sparxxx-Every since I came out there were times before I came out I thought about quitting but every since I came out I realized this was my job I've been set on sticking around.

Are you still based out of the Atlanta area.
Bubba Sparxxx-Yes I live in Atlanta.

A lot of talented artists have come out of Atlanta in the past 15 years.
Bubba Sparxxx-Yeah it's a hot spot.

Are you at the point in your career where you are managing or producing new artists yourself?
Bubba Sparxxx-My label is fledgling its in the developmental stage. I have one artist Duddy Ken. He's out of Athens, Georgia. He's been on both of my first two albums and he's on this one. He's the first artist I'm going to put out.

This is kinda of a funny question. Now Bubba is kind of a big mans name. Do you ever fear that if you lose weight you won't be Bubba anymore?
Bubba Sparxxx-I'll always be Bubba at heart.

How long did it take you to record "The Charm?"
Bubba Sparxxx- About a year and a half working off and on.

What are your feelings about the new album?
Bubba Sparxxx-The Charm, the third time will be the Charm and it will be my most complete album to date.

Featured artists on The Charm include Ying Yang Twins, Petey Pablo. Sleepy Brown, Killa Mike.Cool Breeze and Frankie J.
