MF Doom Invades Your Cell Phone
Friday - April 7, 2006 by Jolene "foxxylady" Petipas
Exclusive mobile content and full track downloads from MF Doom, Tone Loc, The Pharcyde and Young MC will now be made available to Amp'd Mobile's U.S.consumers, all thanks in part to a recent venture between Amp'd Mobile and independent music distributor The Orchard.
As part of the agreement, The Orchard whose catalog encompasses music from thousands of labels including Delicious Vinyl and indie favorite Nature Sounds will be provided to Amp'd U.S. subscribers via Amp'd Mobile. The Orchard will also provide Amp'd with portions of its video catalog.
"The Orchard has the largest and greatest collection of independent music," said Amp'd Mobile Senior VP of Music Larry Mattera via a statement. "For our subscribers seeking entertainment content outside of the mainstream -- be it music, voice, or video -- The Orchard offers unparalleled choice. We are pleased that our partnership with The Orchard has enabled us to diversify our entertainment offering."
In related news, MF Doom will be releasing a collaborative effort with Ghostface titled Swift And Changeable later this year. Doom produced four songs on Ghostface's recent release Fishscale which debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 this week.
As SOHH previously reported, Doom is currently touring the U.S. with Danger Mouse in support of their critically acclaimed album, The Mouse And The Mask.
