Harris qualifies for NCAA regional in 200

Jenna Harris’ eighth-place finish in the 200 meters led the Ohio State women’s track team yesterday at the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tenn. She qualified for the NCAA Mideast Regional with a seasonbest time of 23.61 seconds. She also helped the Buckeyes to a ninth-place finish in the 1,600 relay. Veronica Vance leaped 18 feet, 7 inches in the long jump for a sixth-place finish. In men’s competition, Pat Whalen qualified for a regional with a 56-foot, 3¼-inch throw in the shot put.

Ohio State is last among 15 teams after two rounds at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin. Indiana (578) takes a fourstroke lead over Northwestern (582) into today’s final round. Northwestern cut its firstround deficit from 12 strokes to four with 18 holes remaining. Ohio State’s Colin Biles shot a 149 and is tied for 16 th individually. Northwestern’s Kyle Moore and Indiana’s Seth Brandon are tied for top individual honors at 141. The tournament, in its 36 th year, is being held in Dublin this year while renovations are made to Ohio State’s Scarlet Course. Women’s tennis Sophomore Caitlin O’Keefe recorded Ohio State’s only win with a three-set triumph over Kara Delicata in a 6-1 loss to visiting Michigan. The Buckeyes (13-9, 3-4 Big Ten) were unable to secure the doubles point, winning just one of three matches. Ciara Finucane and Kristin Messmer were the Buckeyes’ only winners. OSU will play its last home match of the season at 11 a.m. today against Michigan State. Men’s tennis Ohio State won its seventh straight match with a 6-1 win over host Michigan State. Ohio State (19-1, 7-0 Big Ten) got straight-set singles wins from Bryan Koniecko, Devin Mullings, Dennis Mertens, Ross Wilson, Drew Eberly and three wins in doubles. Rowing Ohio State closed its regular season with seven wins against Minnesota and Oregon State in Bloomington, Ind. The first and second varsity eight boats posted two wins, as did the second varsity four, while the first varsity four beat Oregon State and lost to Minnesota.
