Alice Cooper, Soul Asylum, Los Lonely Boys and David Cassidy will headline Taste of Minnesota 2006.

The state's largest free concert runs from June 30 to July 4 in St. Paul along the Mississippi River and will feature more than 50 free shows.

Cassidy gained fame on TV's the "Partridge Family" and sold more than 35 million albums. Soul Asylum, a Minneapolis band, has a national following and a bona fide hit, "Runaway Train." Los Lonely Boys topped the charts with "Heaven," and Alice Cooper, known as the "Father of Shock Rock," will make his first U.S. stop on his world tour at Taste of Minnesota. Davy Jones, of Monkees fame, will appear July 2.

Local acts include The Hopefuls, Tina Schlieske (formerly of Tina and the B-side Movement), GB Leighton and Luke Zimmerman.

Former U.S. Rep. Tim Penny will perform with Led Penny, a group that features two of his sons. Also in the politician-musician category are veteran St. Paul band leader and ex-City Council Member Vic Tedesco and current Council Member Dave Thune, who will play with the Backseat Boogie Band.
