THEY may have thousands of fans of their own, but pop twins The Veronicas are singing the praises of another Brisbane band.
Jess and Lisa Origliasso are happy to share the limelight with their former talent school mates Brisbane rock band Repeat Offender, who feature Jess's boyfriend Steven Childs on guitar and vocals.
"We are their biggest fans," Jess said. "What makes them great is their ability to mix heavy music with melody. It's a unique sound I really love. It's only a matter of time before they start touring the world."
The Veronicas met Repeat Offender's Childs, 21, and singer Ryan Wilson, 22, at the Brisbane talent school Fame when they were 10 years old.
The 21-year-old twins drew worldwide attention to the band at the MTV Video Music Awards in Sydney last month when they said next year's winners would be Repeat Offender.
Within two days, the formerly unknown rockers from Brisbane's southside received 5000 listens on their MySpace website, making them one of the most popular bands on MySpace Australia.
"They're our biggest fans and we're their biggest fans," Repeat Offender bass player Matt Newton, 22, said. "The girls have been so good to us and it's really inspiring to see them becoming so huge. We always knew they would be big but never this big."
The two bands came together last month when Repeat Offender opened for The Veronicas' sold-out show at the Tivoli. "It was our dream gig to share a stage with them and we were so stoked," Lisa said.
It was also a chance for LA-based Jess and Childs, of Thorneside, to spend some rare time together.
"More than anything it's hard being away from each other so much," Jess said. "But I know he is living his dreams and he is always supportive of me living mine."
Repeat Offender's debut album To a Modern Love... through SonyBMG hits shelves tomorrow and they're touring nationally, including: May 19 at The Basement, Brisbane City; May 20 at Coolangatta Hotel, Gold Coast; and May 21 at the Byron Bay Youth Centre.
