Orange AIM Series annnounce dates & sixth event at Xscape Braehead

11 May 2006

Orange AIM SeriesIt feels like only a short while ago we were reporting back from this year's Orange BRITS, but, although Summer's barely upon us, we're already announcing the new schedule for the Orange AIM Series 2006. The calendar has expanded to incorporate a full six UK Championship events in 2006, split between three indoor and three artificial slope events.

New event at Braehead Xscape added to Calendar
The Orange Aim Series (the UK’s Snowboard and Freeski Championship circuit) celebrates its 5th Birthday this year and with an sixth event being added 2006 Orange AIM Series is fully locked and loaded to supply the ever-growing number of UK freestylers with more action. The brand new Braehead Xscape in Glasgow will join the list of existing venues: Rossendale, Castleford, Milton Keynes, Bracknell and Warmwell.

Building on success of 2005 Schools Tour & AIM Series i n2006
Stuart Brass of Soul Sports comments:  “After the success of the 2005 Schools Tour and Orange AIM Series we are excited to be returning to the same venues again this year to continue to build our relationship with schools, slopes and media in these areas. It’s also great to be able to add a brand new event and head back into Scotland for this year’s series and see the competitor numbers increase each year”.

Orange AIM Series dates for the diaries:

  • 28th July Xscape, Castleford:
British Rail Jam session, plus Product Testing (Evening Session)
  • 5th August Xscape, Braehead, Glasgow:
    British Indoor Slopestyle Championships
  • 19th August Xscape, Milton Keynes:
British Indoor Boarder/ Skiercross Championships, plus Slopestyle
  • 2nd - 3rd September, Bracknell Ski Centre:
British Artificial Slopestyle Championships, plus Big Air
  • 16th - 17th September Rossendale Ski Centre:
British Artificial Boardecross / Skiercross Championships, plus Big Air
  • 30th Sept - 1st Oct Dorset Snowsport Centre in Warmwell:
British Artificial Big Air Championships, plus Quarterpipe

[NB: For weekend events, Snowboarding will take place on first day, followed by Skiing on second]

AIM Series has increased profile of UK snowsports
Since it began in 2002, the AIM series has provided snowsports enthusiasts with a platform to get into competition and gain wider exposure, while at the same time promoting snowsports around the UK and increasing participation levels. Some of UK’s top snowsport athletes, Olympians included, have developed through the Series and over 6,000 school children and beginners have tried snowboarding and skiing through the free lessons and schools tour initiatives.

UK is becoming a 'hotbed of freestyle talent'
Serving up competition on Artificial and Indoor slopes as well as snow-capped Mountain resorts, the Orange AIM Series caters for all tastes and budgets. By promoting the country’s leading slopes and actively introducing schoolchildren to the thriving community of talented freestylers, it’s fair to claim that the UK is fast becoming a hotbed of freestyle talent.

Get down there, get your lids on and get sliding...
The Orange AIM Series is open to all performance levels and ages. Helmets will be compulsory to everyone under 16 and all ages at various slopes, it is advisable to pre-register over the internet.

To find out more about each event; schedules, course design and registration forms check out the Orange AIM Series 2006 website.

[The Orange Aim Series would not be cooking without its highly supportive sponsors: Orange, Trespass, Animal, ThirtyTwo, Etnies, Snowlife, Xscape, Salomon, Ride, K2. Official retail partners: TSA and Ellis Brigham. Media partners: Snowboardclub.co.uk, Natives.co.uk, Dark Summer and Whitelines]
