New Delhi: Anybody who is a soft-rock or ballad fan probably grew up listening to the Air Supply. Lost in love, All out of love, Goodbye are the all-time-favourite-playlist of the soft rock group.
Air Supply duo Russell Hitchcock and Graham Russell are in India for their first ever concert in the country. They are performing in New Delhi on Thursday.
Reshil Charles: Welcome to India guys.
Russell Hitchcock: Thank you so much for speaking to us.
Reshil Charles: Your peak was in the 80s with albums like lost in love and many others. During that time, you were very big in India as well.
Reshil Charles: The Primary question is, why has it taken you three decades to come here?
Russell Hitchcock: Just the invitation you know. We were supposed to come here three times in the past. But for one reason or another, weather interfered or the promoter went south or whatever reason. We’ve been trying to come here for long. And we are very glad we made it.
Reshil Charles: After many hits there was a slump, where you did a lot of revisits. Is the upcoming album an original composition or is it a revisit again?
Russell Hitchcock: No we are working on anew project. It’s Mr Russell’s composition. Whatever comes to his head, we record it. We were recording some songs in Graham’s studio in his home in Utah. We have been messing around with some old songs. And recording some songs we have never done before, it sounds beautiful I must admit.
Reshil Charles: You have been here on personal visits before. Do you plan to do anything other than playing here? Like some great exotic Indian dream that’s left uncherished.
Russell Hitchcock: I have been wanting to see the Taj Mahal. I don’t know if we can do that. It’s my life long dream. Maybe some rich millionaire with a helicopter could take us there.
Reshil Charles: We can’t let you go without you giving us a tease of your any classic.
Russell Hitchcock: No man, we just flew 23 hours to get here. We are saving all the energy for tomorrow night.
