An Indianapolis man faces charges that he tried to extort $9 million from Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds by claiming he was the singer's illegitimate son.

Twenty-three-year-old John Clark was arrested Friday after a meeting with Edmonds' Los Angeles-based attorney in Indianapolis.

The attorney contacted Marion County authorities about the extortion attempt. Authorities say clark claimed he would go to the media with his story if he wasn't paid.

He's currently in the Marion County Jail, being held without bond. An initial court hearing is scheduled for Tuesday morning.
