Jody Breeze broke onto the scene last year with the Jazze Pha-produced "Stay Fresh," putting the block on freeze. Then, he came in your house and sat on the couch with the rest of the Boyz N Da Hood with "Dem Boyz," gaining national recognition and heavy burn on radio stations across the country.

Now, Jody feels he's way past due in becoming that household name usually included with platinum success. He's kind of like a Kobe with the Lakers, only he's representing for those clocking in the hood.

So, where's Jody been as of late? Well, he's been in the lab, hard at work on his debut album, Day in the Life of Jody Breeze, which is slated for July. Read as Jody touches on his new album, the Boyz N Da Hood and why people need to pay more attention to the ATL.

Ballerstatus.net: You've enjoyed success with your group the Boyz N Da Hood, so what about Jody by himself? How would you describe the Jody without the group?

Jody Breeze: I'm still that average cat trying to work my hustle...trying to put it down for the trappers on the block making money, so they can get out of the hood. [I'm] doing it for the whole GA. I'm a founding member of Boyz N Da Hood [and I'm] working with my man Block, making that good hood music. [laughs] That trap or die music, you know what I'm saying?

Ballerstatus.net: Yeah, for real. We NEED that. What's the name of your solo album?

Jody Breeze: The name of the album is Day in the Life of Jody Breeze.It's real man. That album is gonna be some of the best work to come out the south yet, for real.

Ballerstatus.net: What made you choose that as your title?

JB: Man, I chose that because the title is exactly what it is. When you listen to the album, you gonna hear what goes on EVERY DAY in my life, man. In this album, I feel I captured a day that most people can relate to. From the morning to the night, [it is] a whole day.

Ballerstatus.net: What made you want to come out with your solo album now? Like I said, you've been here for a minute, doing your thing. Why specifically now?

JB: I've wanted to do my thing on the solo. On "Stay Fresh," it wasn't my time yet. Now it is. Now, I'm in a position to release what people need to know about me. It's my time for real. Jody Breeze is HERE.

Ballerstatus.net: So, how do you feel about the whole ATL thing popping off so big?

JB: A lot of people don't realize how big a movement it is. ATL is on they hustle, Bankhead too. Georgia as a whole is real big right now. It's exciting to see.

Ballerstatus.net: There had been some rumors about Boyz N Da Hood switching up it's members. I was hearing Lil' Wayne was in it, then he wasn't. Jeezy leaving and all this. What's really going on?

JB: I ain't concerned about whose in it. Boyz N Da Hood is gonna be what it is: a group of the finest in the South, period. It don't matter who's in it. When you pick up the CD and see the [Boyz N Da Hood] name, you can expect that it's some of the realest sh-- on wax right now. Block knows what he's doing.

Ballerstatus.net: Back to your album, who's showing up on there? Who's featured and producing?

JB: I got the best of the best on there, man. Freeway showed me love. I also got Bun B, Too Short, and of course Wayne and DJ Quik. Ain't too many really touching me when I drop. Know that.

Ballerstatus.net: What do you bump right now? Who's in your CD player?

JB: Beats. I just ride to beats, so I can think of new songs. I'm all about the grind, and making that music that needs to be made right now.

Ballerstatus.net: What do you say to those trying to get in the game?

JB: Do it all the way. Don't half-step with it. Everyone got they reasons why they do what they do, mine is because I'm still the same. I ain't changed. See me in the streets, I'll show you the same love as when I'm on TV. I do it for those on parole and in the trap, man. Give it everything you got.
