Alice In Chains are getting set to play their first UK show since 1993 with their appearance on the Kerrang! Magazine Stage at the Download Festival on June 10. But guitarist Jerry Cantrell has revealed to K! that the grunge legends – whose singer Layne Stayley passed away in 2002 – aren’t treating this as their big comeback. “It’s not like we’ve got anything to prove,” Cantrell says. “I’m not doing this out of any ‘Hey man, we’re going to come back and kick all these young bands’ asses.”
Can we expect a new album any time soon? “It will be exciting to see where it goes, but I can’t say that it’s going to end up in a new record,” he adds. “I can say, though, that we are going to play some great shows and have a fun time doing it.”
