LibertyJAM is an outdoor, waterfront concert event to celebrate Liberty State Park's 30th anniversary featuring Cheap Trick, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Los Lobos, Patti Smith, The Fab Faux, The Smithereens, John Eddie, and Exit 105. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the preservation and improvement of historic Liberty State Park. The park overlooks the NYC skyline, Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. This is the first large-scale concert event in the park since 9/11.

Jersey City, NJ (PRWEB) June 2, 2006 -- Cheap Trick, set to release the new studio album Rockford on June 6, will be joined by George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Patti Smith, Los Lobos, The Fab Faux and other artists to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Liberty State Park at an historic outdoor concert festival on Sunday, June 25, 2006.

The festival is expected to draw up to 15,000 people and raise significant funds to benefit The Friends of Liberty State Park, the non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to preserving and improving the park for free public use.

“As an advocate for Liberty State Park, I'm very excited about LibertyJAM,” said Sam Pesin, President of Friends of Liberty State Park. “This is a truly unique public space with spectacular views of the New York City skyline, Ellis Island, and the Statue of Liberty. I hope this concert will raise awareness about Liberty State Park among a new audience whom I hope will return with their friends and family to enjoy the beautiful open spaces the park has to offer.”

Liberty Event Management is presenting this first annual LibertyJAMSM music festival in conjunction with Liberty State Park, The Friends of Liberty State Park, and the New Jersey Music Hall of Fame (NJMHOF).

Gates open at 11:00 a.m. and the music starts at noon. Tickets are currently on sale through Ticket Master charge by phone and online at www.ticketmaster.com.

The complete artist line-up is: Cheap Trick, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Los Lobos, Patti Smith, The Fab Faux, The Smithereens, John Eddie, and Exit 105. Additional artists are expected to be announced. More information is available on the event website at www.libertyjam.net

About The Friends of Liberty State Park
The Friends is a completely volunteer 501(c)(3) organization and is officially recognized by the New Jersey DEP’s Division of Parks and Forestry. This grassroots open-space park organization is dedicated to the preservation of Liberty State Park in Jersey City, New Jersey. Since 1988, the organization has been dedicated to the vision of a free and green park and has persisted in their mission of advocating for, protecting, beautifying, and promoting this urban state park.

The group spearheaded the establishment of the state’s largest playground in the park and the creation of a shuttle bus system to the Light Rail Station. They sponsor a spring clean up of the salt marsh, hold November history programs, and have funded various gifts including park plantings and interpretive signage. As a member of NJDEP’s Liberty State Park Advisory Committee, they support the plan for a 250-acre Interior natural area that will include nature trails; a 100-acre forest and tall grass habitat; freshwater wetlands; a salt marsh; and an open space perimeter. More information is available on their website at www.folsp.org
