Sandler: 'I like being a moron'

LOS ANGELES - He's on the verge of turning 40 and became a father for the first time when his wife, Jackie, gave birth to their daughter, Sadie, last month. But

Adam Sandler assures fans he's still a moron.

"I like being a moron," Sandler said. "My father called me a moron. My grandfather said I was a moron. A lot of times when I'm driving, I hear I'm a moron."

Sandler, who was a "Saturday Night Live" cast member in the early 1990s, stars in the new movie "Click" as a workaholic who ends up with a universal remote control that allows him to fast-forward and rewind to different parts of his life.

The actor said he can relate to the film's message to spend more time with family and less time at work.

"Looking back at the past 10 years of my life, I've been at work more than I've been at home, so I connected with this movie," he told reporters recently, according to AP Radio. "And when I watched the playback the other day, I went home. I was excited to get home and do the right thing, be with the family."

Sandler said that if he had a remote control that could rewind his life, he'd want to go back to his Little League days.

"Crackin' a base hit always felt good," he said. "I'd like to get back to that day some. You know that aluminum bat smacking a ball, that sounded good. Felt good in my hands. Running to first base, seeing my father actually think I'm a stud for a second."
