Third anniversaries aren't always an occasion for doing something special, but singer-songwriter Elvis Costello and jazz chanteuse Diana Krall have announced that they have a big celebration planned for theirs: the couple will be welcoming a baby to the family, expected right around the time of their anniversary in December. A spokesman confirmed the pregnancy over the weekend.
The 51-year-old Costello is currently out on the road earning rave reviews with Allen Toussaint as they support their recently released album, The River in Reverse. Krall, 41, will be delivering a new album in September, and will be spending part of July touring the festival circuit across Europe.
This will be Krall's first child; for Costello, who's been married twice before, it will be his second. The "Pump It Up" rocker is credited for inspiring his Grammy-winning wife to begin writing on her own.
A new short film, "Putting the River in Reverse," will be included in future pressings of Costello and Toussaint's album. The documentary offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the sessions, and allows viewers to travel alongside the songwriting team as they arrive in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
