AUSTIN - Residents of Austin and Washburnville have water again. The Austin Special Service District and the Central Utah Public Health Department announced last week that the water outage affecting the Austin culinary water system has been repaired.
“A large chunk of roots obstructed the flow,” said Kelly Roberts, president of the Austin district.
On the evening of June 16, the water line broke, leaving residents without water until 2 p.m., the following day. The morning of June 20, the water slowed to a trickle, leaving residents once again without water.
The boil order that was put into effect the morning of June 18, was lifted June 21, therefore residents are no longer required to boil their water.
Though there were no signs of bacterial growth in the water samples, testing continued for several days as a precautionary measure and to confirm that the water remains free of harmful organisms, Roberts said.
Residents are asked not to water outside between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
