LONDON (ShareCast) - Building materials group Hanson (LSE: HNS.L - news) is due to update on first half trading on Wednesday and investors are expecting positive things from the group.

In April Hanson said it had seen a good first quarter though traditionally it is the second quarter that is more meaningful for the group as activity picks up after the winter.

Its North American operations will be monitored following a stronger performance in the first quarter with hopes that the trend will have continued. Impacting on the figures though will be high energy prices, as Hanson previously flagged up.
