Giddyup in style

Whether you're getting down in the dirt or high and mighty on horseback, you need the right equipment to be a cowboy.

Remember, your new boots should feel comfortably snug. The ball of the foot should be right in the widest part of the boot, indicating proper arch length and adequate toe room. Alberta Boot Co. also suggests the boot should be snug over the instep (top of the foot).

Finally, there should be a slight lift in the heel when you walk (about 1/2-in.) which will subside as the sole starts to flex. If a boot is too tight, there will be little or no lift and if a boot is too big, the heel will slip dramatically.

Check out the latest and greatest in saddles and boots, courtesy The Horse Store, 2612 Kensington Rd. N.W., and Alberta Boot Co., 614 10 Ave. S.W.
