Disaster averted in metal blaze
A disaster was averted by the rapid response of firefighters when a pile of scrap metal went up in flames in Morecambe.
Four engines dashed to Morecambe Recycling at the White Lund Industrial Estate on Saturday morning.

It appears a blow torch being used by a worker set light to a patch of oil which quickly spread to the heap of metal.

Crew manager Tony Bamber said: "Fortunately, we got control of the fire to ensure it did not spread."
