It didn't come together, but the Def Jux recording artist did end up contributing a CD to a book Fish wrote and illustrated called "The Next Best Thing," which is based on children's books of the 1970s.
Fish told The San Francisco Chronicle the title refers to the creative process.
"When you come up with ideas for a living, you need to have a fail-safe way to keep going. You have to convince yourself that whatever you're going to work (on) is the best idea ever," Fish said. "And even if you manage to convince yourself of this, by the time you're actually making it, it becomes the next best idea."
Fish, who owns a skateboard company, also plans to premiere a skateboard video with a soundtrack by Aesop Rock.
