Manic Street Preachers frontman James Dean Bradfield is going solo for the first time in the 21-year history of the rock band.
He said he made the decision to go it alone out of "boredom and frustration".
"I've been with the Manics for 21 years and at the end of last year we realised we had to take a break from it," he said.
"We had to say, we're getting a bit old now. We've been in the band for 21 years and I got bored and dysfunctional."
But fans of the legendary rockers shouldn't fear as James says his break is only short-term.
"They way I've seen it, the Manics is my home and this is just a little kind of holiday for me," he admitted. "And I'm not out there just saying 'this is James Dean Bradfield' with bells and whistles on. This is just having a bit of fun really."
His single That's No Way To Tell A Lie is out now.
