Damian Marley teams up with Ben Harper for summer tour
Kevin Jackson, Observer Writer
Friday, July 14, 2006

Grammy-winner Ben Harper will be joined by triple Grammy winner, Damian 'Jr Gong' Marley, for one of this year's most festive tours. Titled Both Sides Of The Gun after harper's current two-disc album, the tour will be a two-month trek which kicks off with Harper and his band, the Innocent Criminals as headliner on August 10 in Phoenix, Arizona and winds up on September 15 in Atlanta.

The tour will make stops in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York among other cities.

Harper will perform some of perennial favourites as well as songs from the new release. Marley, accompanied by his five piece band, two backup singers, and flag man will be performing songs from his Grammy- winning album, Welcome To Jamrock, as well as tracks off of his first album Mr Marley, and the Grammy-winning Halfway Tree.

. Nikki Silk shoots video for Wandering Sheep

Up and coming singer Nikki Silk recently completed the video for his latest single Wandering Sheep. As the title suggests, the singer was once lost without direction, so it was decided to concentrate the story based around the whole "lost, but now I'm found' concept", explained Wayne Benjamin of Fabrikated ProjeX, director for the video.

In the video, Silk wanders the street aimlessly, but he also occasionally seeks guidance from a well-respected, wise Rastafarian elder. Even though he is told of a better way of life by this elder, it is not until fate intervenes that he realizes his true calling.

The video was shot entirely on location in Trench Town, Silk's home base. The talent used in this video were not professional actors, but because of their enthusiasm and support for Nikki's project, along with proper directions, they were all able to play convincing roles, and help create a very entertaining video.

Khary Tucker executive producer, showed a lot of faith in and respect for a director he knew very little about. This also helped to make the production of this video a successful one.

. Nadine Sutherland turns up the heat

Nadine Sutherland is set to make some waves this summer with a string of new singles, tour dates, and the release of her long awaited album. Sutherland recently completed the video for her new single Keep Me Safe (Eight76 Records). A mixture of tourists, community residents, and passers-by to the downtown Kingston area stopped in their tracks at the sight of Nadine Sutherland in her element.

Director Nordia Rose wisely used the busy locale as a backdrop for the songstress. Nadine recently recorded another upcoming single Cyan Tek It featuring Chrisinti (Eight76 Records). The video for Cyan Tek It was also directed by Nordia Rose.

The Rising Stars judge will join Chrisinti and the rest of the Eight76 crew on select dates of the 2006 Eight76 All Star summer tour including the Sea Breeze festival on July 23 in Long Beach, California.

Additionally, Sutherland has established her own company, Nadsipadsi Enterprises Incorporated. The company's purpose is to work hand in hand with various companies on projects that further Nadine's long-term career goals. This, she says, will allow her television, recording, and performing endeavors to flourish.
