Nickel Creek's Chris Thile will release a solo album, titled How to Grow a Woman From the Ground Up, on Sept. 12 on Sugar Hill Records. Intended as a return to Thile's bluegrass roots, the album features a young band of notable pickers, including Gabe Witcher, Noam Pikelny, Chris Eldridge and Greg Garrison. In addition to Thile's own compositions, other songwriters found on the album include Gillian Welch, Jack White and the late Jimmie Rodgers. Thile produced and recorded the album in New York City, where he now lives.
