Two huge shows on opposite ends of the rock spectrum go on sale this week. On the softer side of things, we've got the radio-friendly, happy-go-lucky tunes of John Mayer and Sheryl Crow. The strumming songwriters, who own 12 Grammy awards combined, will play Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine on Sept. 27. Los Angeles' Marjorie Fair will open the show.

For Crow, the trek is extremely special, as she underwent treatment for breast cancer earlier in the year. A portion of every ticket sold for the tour will benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Tickets are $30.50-$66.

On the heavier side of rock 'n' roll comes a match made in headbanger's heaven. Boston metalsmiths Godsmack will team up with the always ferocious Rob Zombie for a stop at the venue on Sept. 30. Shinedown will serve opening duties.

With both artists recently releasing new albums (Godsmack's debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200), be prepared for a chaotic night filled with a ton of new tunes plus some old gems too. Tickets are $25-$49.50. Both shows go on sale 10 a.m. Saturday.

Another band that scored a No. 1 debut this year is punky-goth outfit AFI. The band, whose recently released "decemberunderground" has received tons of critical applause, will play the Long Beach Arena Sept. 15. Popular psychobilly trio Tiger Army and post-hardcore outfit Saosin will open. Tickets are $20-$32.50.

At The Greek Theatre, 94.7 FM The Wave will throw its two-day Wavefest Sept. 29 and 30. Day One features performances by Brian McKnight, Boney James and Eric Darius with a special guest to be announced in August.

Day Two features Ramsey Lewis Trio and David Pack with the major headliner to be announced next month. Tickets are $29.50-$129.50 per day and go on sale 10 a.m. Saturday.

Christian "praise and worship" band MercyMe will play the intimate Theatre at the Arrowhead Pond with Audio Adrenaline on Oct. 28. Tickets are $35-$45 and go on sale 10 a.m. Saturday.

Toolfans eager to see the band play new songs from "10,000 Days" finally have dates for the band's promised fall tour. The art-metal quartet, already scheduled to headline San Diego's Street Scene on Aug. 5, will play the Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield Sept. 5. Tickets are $29.50-$49.50 and go on sale 10 a.m. Saturday.

Additionally, the band is slated to play Staples Center Sept. 7. Ticket prices and an on-sale date are TBA but metal experimentalists ISIS are confirmed as the opening act.

Four additional shows have been added to Delirium: A Cirque du Soleil Live Music Event. The show will run Sept. 15-Sept. 17, with a matinee and evening performance on Sept. 16. Tickets are $69.50-$125 and go on sale 10 a.m. Monday.

Tickets for the show's three-day stint at the venue Sept. 27-29 are on sale now. Note: The shows scheduled for Sept. 15 and 16 at The Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim have been cancelled. Tickets can not be used for the Staples Center performances, but will be refunded at the point of purchase.

Indie darling Sufjan Stevens will play The Wiltern LG on Oct. 9. Don't miss an opportunity to hear the artist's instrumentally-rich sound when tickets go on sale today at noon. Tickets are $20-$25.

Also at the venue, experience An Evening with Pet Shop Boys. The pop veterans will play a two-day stint Nov. 8 and 9. Tickets are $65-$85. Eagles of Death Metal, Peaches, Aug. 4, $21.50, on sale now.

Controversial Mexican rock/hip-hop group Molotov will play the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal Citywalk with Zoe and Delux on Aug. 13. Tickets are $39.75-$50.75 and go on sale today at 1 p.m.

Also at the Gibson, McDonald's presents Lo McXimo de la Musica featuring Frankie J, Luis Fonsi, Nina Sky and Orishas on Sept. 1. Tickets are $36.25-$56.25 and go on sale 10 a.m. Saturday.
