MIKE GETS HIS OAR IN
A MAN who lost his sight more than 30 years ago aims to row the 32-mile Union Canal.
Michael Anderson, 66, had not lifted an oar since being stuck down by a degenerative eye condition as a teenager.
Now, after six months of training on a rowing machine with Stirling Rowing Club, he's set to tackle the epic six-hour journey.
The widowed dad-of-three from Falkirk, who also has asthma, will be joined in the boat by club captain David Plank.
Michael said: "The charity Deafblind Scotland made it possible for me, so I decided to try to repay them with this sponsored challenge."
