 Fall Out Boy
| Figurines of the members of Fall Out Boy will be coming to a Hot Topic store near you this September. Toy manufacturer SOTA recently made the announcement at the Comic-Con in San Diego where they previewed the dolls, which were dressed in the clothes the band wore on their recent Black Clouds and Underdogs tour. "I remember playing with G.I. Joes back in the day, when my ultimate dream ever was to get the aircraft carrier. [So] to be approached to be made into one is absolutely amazing," Fall Out bassist Pete Wentz told MTV News. "To be honest, our only offense about them is people calling them 'action figures.' We feel safe in our own skin. Let's just call them 'dolls.' " Wentz also said that some of the dolls will come packaged with special "golden tickets" that will give lucky winners a chance to spend a day with the band. Fall Out Boy is also working to find a charity to which they will donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the dolls.
DMX will return this summer with his sixth LP, Year Of The Dog, Again, set to drop on August 1. However, Clear Channel Radio is offering a sneak peek of the new CD via 30 Clear Channel Radio station Web sites. The sneak peek will be available from July 25 to 28 and then the album will be available to stream On-Demand from July 29 to August 5. Get the details at ClearChannelMusic.com.
Jet has finally revealed some details about their sophomore album, Shine On, which is the follow-up to 2003's Get Born. The album is due October 3 and the first single, "Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is," will impact the radio airwaves on August 7. The CD was produced by Dave Sardy, who also helmed Get Born. Jet will start off with a brief tour of the U.S. from September 18 through October 6, then return to the States in late November for a full-blown tour of North America.
Mike Shinoda's side project Fort Minor recently hosted a contest asking fans to create their own video for the song "Where'd You Go." Fans can now view the Top 3 finalist videos, chosen by Shinoda himself, and vote for their favorite. The winning video will get the opportunity for an exclusive premiere on MTV Overdrive. Check out the details at Fortminor.com.
Fat Joe will be heading to Europe to perform for the first time in his career, and he will play shows in Switzerland, France, Germany, the U.K. and Spain. Fat Joe's seventh solo LP, Me Myself & I, will be released this fall. It features collaborations with The Game and Lil Wayne as well as production from Scott Storch, The Runners, DJ Khaled and many more. "This album is really my most up close and personal you've ever heard," says Joe. "I'm showing all sides and letting fans really get to know who I truly am. Lyrically I'm showing my vulnerable and gangster sides."
Alicia Keys and Barenaked Ladies will headline the opening ceremonies for next month's International AIDS Conference in Toronto, according to the London Free Press. Other performers who will participate include Blue Man Group, Our Lady Peace, Amanda Marshall and Chantal Kreviazuk. The opening-night program on August 13 also will feature an address by Bill and Melinda Gates, whose charitable foundation supports a variety of HIV/AIDS programs, and a special concert by Canadian opera star Measha Brueggergosman and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Concert proceeds go to several AIDS-related groups.
Bruce Springsteen has confirmed 26 European concerts with the 17-piece Seeger Sessions Band in support of the album We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions. The trek will start on October 1 in Bologna, Italy and run until November 21 in Belfast, Ireland. As previously reported, an expanded version of We Shall Overcome is due in stores on October 5.
Oasis will release a collection of songs in November called Stop The Clocks, but the group is denying that it's a "greatest hits" CD, according to the NME. The record will be drawn from all of the band's album and single releases, with Oasis picking the 18 tracks themselves. Along with hit singles, the collection will include "Acquiesce," the b-side to "Some Might Say," and "Half A World Away," the b-side of "Whatever."
