Rell orders flags at half-staff for Marine killed in Iraq

 (Hartford-AP, Aug. 6, 2006 2:00 PM) _ Governor Rell today ordered flags on state buildings to be lowered to half staff to honor a Marine serving in a Connecticut-based reserves unit was killed in Iraq last week.

   Lance Corporal Kurt Dechen was on a foot patrol in Fallujah on Thursday when his unit came under fire and he was shot.

   He died on his 24th birthday.

   Dechen was part of the 1st Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment of Plainville.

   Flags will remain at half staff until Dechen's funeral, which his family has not yet made final.
