Hillman Cordell Ryan

Funeral services for Hillman Cordell Ryan, 87, of Loganville, Ga., will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 10, 2006, at Enon Baptist Church Cemetery, Elders Gus Harder and Lonnie Muzingo Jr. officiating, with burial in Enon Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ryan died Monday, March 6 in Snellville.



Donald Junior Plank

Funeral services for Donald Junior Plank, 82, of Hanceville will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2006, at First United Methodist Church, the Rev. Bob Alford and David Reed officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery. Mr. Plank will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Plank died Monday, March 6 at Hanceville Nursing Home. He was born in Harrisburg, Penn., on Sept. 13, 1923, to Kenneth Pierce and Ruth Routzahn Plank. While growing up in Hagerstown, Md., and loving music, he worked his way through high school performing in a dance band, even performing in New York City for the world's fair. He then proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. Coming home to return to school, he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, with a bachelor of arts degree, and the University of Maryland, with a masters degree in pharmacy. In the early 1960s, he studied under Dr. Basil Tutoriski, a professor of music in Washington, D.C., and spent many hours practicing on a Franz Liszt piano. He was a registered pharmacist for over 40 years and loved Cullman.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Nan Plank of Cullman; one daughter, Donna Lee (Alan) Thornton of Charlotte, N.C.; four sons, Thomas Eldridge (Cathy) Plank of Knoxville, Tenn., William Lewis (Georgie) Plank of Tucson, Ariz., David Clement (Donna) Plank of Baltimore, Md., and David Howard (Leeann) Plank of Cullman; one sister, Virginia Plank Bidle of Middletown, Md.; two brothers, Bruce Quentin (Carole) Plank of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Stanley Plank of Virginia Beach, Va.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First United Methodist Church Organ Fund or the Building Fund at 320 3rd St. SE, Cullman, AL 35055.

Pallbearers will be Dale Smith, Norris Atchley, John Gober, Danny Martin, Louie McDonald and Marlin Raney.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.



Terry Joe 'Joey' Smith

Funeral services for Terry Joe "Joey" Smith, 47, of Cullman will be at noon Thursday, March 9, 2006, at Moss-Service Chapel, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Smith went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 6 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born on Jan. 10, 1959, in Cullman to Sanford and Johnnie Davis Smith. He was an avid gardener and reader, a loving son, brother and uncle. Among his many accomplishments, he also was a certified paralegal, working independently.

He was preceded in death by his father; and his nephew, Timothy Zinsmeister.

Survivors include his mother, Johnnie McElroy; two sisters, Donna (Ray) Weeks and Reba (Gary) Quattlebaum; five nephews and six nieces, Billy (Linda) Weeks, Angie Swafford, Cheri (Darrin) Jones, Clark (Niki) Zinsmeister, Scotty (Stacie) Weeks, Jason (Jennifer) Zinsmeister; eight great-nieces; one great-nephew; his longtime partner and friend, Alex Hudson; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.



Helen Ruth Hafer

Funeral services for Helen Ruth Hafer, 75, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2006, at Moss-Service Chapel, with burial in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hafer died Monday, March 6 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born on June 9, 1930, in Alabama to Wright and Thelma Mae Holmes White. She was a seamstress with Cullman Lingerie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Howard, Berlin and Kenneth White.

Survivors include her husband, Harvey Easkel Hafer; and a sister, Louise Katherine Patterson.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today.



R.C. 'John' Bailey

Funeral services for R.C. "John" Bailey, 82, of Cullman will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2006, at Moss-Service Chapel, the Revs. Jimmy McClendon and Malcolm Carter officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bailey died Monday, March 6 at Hanceville Nursing Home. He was born on March 12, 1923, to Claude and Tessie Allen Bailey. He was a machine operator with Americold.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rachel Bailey; and a brother, Calvin Bailey.

Survivors include four sisters, Eva Bailey of Baileyton, Iree Evans of Brunswick, Ohio, Betty Lou Welch of Wadsworth, Ohio, Lena Shondrick of Chippewa Lake, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Edna Smith of Cullman; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today.



Evelyn Stewart Keaton

Memorial services for Evelyn Stewart Keaton, 48, of Double Springs will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2006, at Fairview Methodist Church.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Keaton died Sunday, March 5 at her residence. She was born on Dec. 24, 1957, in Mississippi to G.B. and Ada Chambliss Stewart. She was a teacher.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include a son, Bartow Stewart Keaton; a daughter, Ann Marie Keaton; and a grandchild, Joshua Keaton.



Flora Dean Hunter

Graveside services for Flora Dean Hunter, 57, of Hanceville will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2006, at Hopewell Cemetery with Lovey Wisner officiating.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hunter died Tuesday, March 7, in Huntsville. She was born in Cullman on Oct. 20. 1948, to George E. and Glennie I. Milligan Anderson.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Nathan B. Hunter; daughter, Shelley (Jimmy) York; two sons, Jonathan (Lila) Hunter, Kelly (Penny) Hunter; seven grandchildren, Brittany and Lisa York, Gina Ann, Dominick, Destaney, Meleah and Levi Hunter; five brothers, Clyde, Paul Ray, James Earl, Rodger and Ronny Anderson; and three sisters, Dorothy Reese, Betty Ann Isbell and Glenda Sansing.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.



John Wesley Lee

Funeral services for John Wesley Lee, 43, of Cullman were Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at Hanceville Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Mark Long officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lee died Saturday, March 4 in Cullman. He was born Dec. 21, 1962, in Cullman to Odis and Onvie Olivene Speegle Lee.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Lee is survived by his wife, Angela Lee of Cullman; his daughter, Crystal Nicole Lee of Cullman; his son, Nicholas Wade Lee of Cullman; and two sisters, Lila Lee of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla. and Debra (Robert) Nelson of Destin, Fla.

Visitation was Monday.



Paul John Kuhlmeyer

Funeral services for Paul John Kuhlmeyer, 67, of Addison will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at Nichols Funeral Home in Addison, with burial in Addison Church of God Cemetery.

Nichols Funeral Home of Addison is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kuhlmeyer died Monday, March 6 at his home. He was born on March 1, 1939, in Kansas City, Mo., to John and Mary Kuhlmeyer.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Kuhlmeyer; and his mother, Mary Lindsey.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Dailey Kuhlmeyer; three sons, Tom Kennedy, Chris Kuhlmeyer and John (Robyn) Kuhlmeyer; two daughters, Paula Gomez and Pam (Tony) Wilkins; two sisters, Jana Smith and Twila Reynolds; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation was Tuesday.



James Martin Robinson

Funeral services for James Martin Robinson, 73, of Addison will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2006, at Nesmith Methodist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.

Nichols Funeral Home of Addison is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Robinson died Tuesday, March 7 in Cullman. He was born on Jan. 4, 1933, in Addison to James Marlin and Avo Ramsey Robinson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Pratt Robinson; his parents; four brothers, Cordell Robinson, Leonard Robinson, Avert Robinson and Fred Robinson; and two sisters, Callie Tuggle and Jewel Miller.

Survivors include two sons, Rickey (Kay) Robinson and David (Shanon) Robinson; a daughter, Brenda (Terry) Graham; three brothers, Willard Robinson, Herman Robinson and Albert Robinson; two sisters, Bertha Seymore and Dorothy Baker; and four grandchildren, Cassie Graham, Carrie Graham, Nathan Robinson and Ethan Robinson.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.



John Thomas Lucas

John Thomas Lucas, 79, of Vinemont died Monday, March 6, 2006, at his residence. He was born in Atlanta, Ga., on Dec. 16, 1926.

Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home of Decatur is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Muriel Calderbank Lucas; a son, Jeffrey (Aneta) Lucas; two grandsons, Jeffrey and Spencer Lucas; two granddaughters, Monica Moss and Melissa Garza; and one great-grandchild, Martin Moss III.

Mr. Lucas was a World War II veteran and served with the 3rd Marine Division in the Pacific Theatre.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Cullman County, 402 4th Ave. NE, Cullman, AL 35055 in Mr. Lucas' name.

Funeral services will be private.
