Woman struck, killed standing in fast lane

A Gilroy woman who survived hitting a guardrail on Highway 101 early Friday was killed minutes later when she stepped out of her car and was struck by an approaching truck.
Sade Tina Marie Moralez, 21, lost control of her 1995 Volkswagen Golf as she was driving northbound onto 101 from Leavesley Road around 12:04 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Moralez's car careened across three lanes of the freeway before coming to a stop in the fast lane, CHP Officer Brad Voyles said.
Moralez got out of the car and was standing beside it in the fast lane two minutes later when she and her car were struck by a Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by Joel Bush, 36, of Santee (San Diego County), Voyles said.
Voyles said it is clear that Bush saw Moralez's car and tried to stop, leaving a long trail of skid marks. Investigators were still determining how fast he was driving and other details of the crash.
